A spectacular selection for year round interest! One of the few summer blooming trees that is hardy for colder climates. Clusters of white flowers cover the tree from late July to early August. Beekeepers seek this tree as it's an excellent source of late summer honey. The blooms, which also interest butterflies, make way for bright red seed capsules that change into persistent shiny black fruit that holds well into winter and provides food for birds. Another attractive feature is the smooth gray bark that is intriguing year round. Be sure to amend soil and leave room for width.
