One of the most spectacular ornamental grasses, hardy pampas grass is also one of the tallest. The blades of coarse, textured, blue-green grass reach about 5 ft and make a graceful arching form. Showy, 2 ft long, silvery-white plumes start out with hints of purple when they appear in late summer, fading to white in the fall as they rise to 12-15 ft. Multiple colors of tan, purple, beige and orange blend through the plant as fall arrives. The plumes are perfect for both dried and fresh arrangements, the entire plant provides wonderful winter interest. Works well as a screen or as a specimen. Cut back in early spring before new growth appears.
