This Japanese plum is medium-sized, with reddish purple skin and deep red flesh with a pleasing, mild flavor and little or no tartness. The Burgundy plum ripens in early July, but keeps well on the tree until mid August. Good for fresh eating, cooking, drying, jams and jellies. Cold hardy and self-pollinating, also a good pollinator for other varieties.
