Abundant ruby-red buds open to reveal fuchsia pink flowers in early spring. Dark green, glossy, heart-shaped foliage holds its color all summer only to give way to a warm yellow in autumn. Matures to 25 feet tall with a slightly lesser spread. Expect an upright, vase-shaped habit when young that matures to a rounded or oval form. Survives best in Colorado if planted in a protected location.
