| Description | Also known as Blue Oatgrass, this plant is very striking with its slender, inward rolled, blue-gray blades in an open tuft, casting arching sprays of ornamental, light buff-colored, 4 ft seed spikes that shoot up and ripen to a soft brown by midsummer. Adds texture and color for the entire growing season, can be planted in mass to naturalize or alone as an accent. Cut back in April to encourage vigorous new growth. Blue Avena Grass is a good choice for mountain homes up to 8,500 ft. and is also a great Xeriscape plant. Hardy to -30°F Maximum Elevation: 8,500 ft. |
