Create stunning vertical effects with this grass valued for its early bloom and ability to grow in wet soils. Slow spreading, Karl Foerster features an erect, slightly arching clump of narrow, stiff, green leaves growing to 3 ft tall and 2 ft wide. Feathery stalks emerge reddish-brown and rise well above the foliage to 6 ft tall bearing purplish-green plumes that turn golden as the seeds mature. 2001 Perennial Plant of the Year. Cut back in early spring before new growth appears.
