| Description | Black Mondo Grass features black (really a dark purple) 1/4" wide, strap-like leaves reaching up to 15 inches tall. Foliage emerges green but quickly turns dark. Bell-shaped, pale lavender-pink flowers appear in summer followed by shiny black berries that persist through the winter.This grass makes a great groundcover or edge plant for the border of a garden. Good for under planting shady woody plants or connecting larger islands and it makes nice dark pools to nestle sculpture in. Plants spread by underground stolons with thick fleshy roots. Hardy to -20°F Maximum Elevation: 6,000 ft. |
