This grass is loosely tufted with broad, sharp-edged, arching green blades that form a leafy clump. Summer brings highly decorative, dangling spikelets of beige, oat-like seed heads that shimmer and rustle in the wind and age to bronze by late summer. Foliage turns a copper color in late summer to early fall. Dried spikelets are great for arrangements, cut before they are fully mature.
