Prunus persica ‘Bonfire’

Product Description

A genetically dwarf peach that's ornamental value may outweigh its value for fruit production. In early spring, brilliant double pink flowers with deeper pink centers dramatically coat each and every branch. When the flowers are finished, glossy, long, deep red leaves emerge and hold their color into summer. As the season progresses, winsome little peaches develop and are ready for eating in late summer or early fall. Bonfire's elegant form attracts interest even in winter. Lower limbs can be removed to give it more canopy and the feel of a small tree or they can be left alone if a bushy appearance is desired. If hard frosts are forecasted when this tree is blooming, it's petite stature allows for easy covering to boost fruit production. Though considered a "patio tree" and great for containers, for longevity, it's best to plant in the ground. Matures to about 6 feet tall and wide.
Hardy to -20°F
Maximum Elevation: 6,000 ft.
